April marks the onset of summer in India, but it still offers fantastic travel opportunities across hill stations, national parks, and temple towns. With clear skies, blooming landscapes, and lighter crowds in many regions, April is ideal for mountain escapes, wildlife spotting, and cultural discoveries — especially before the peak heat of May.

Excellent to Visit in April

Himachal Pradesh (Manali, Shimla, Dharamshala)
April is one of the best months to enjoy snow-capped peaks, blossoming apple orchards, and clear hiking trails. Great for outdoor adventures, local cafés, and family holidays.

Uttarakhand (Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Nainital)
Hill stations are cool and refreshing, while Rishikesh is ideal for river rafting and yoga retreats. Corbett National Park offers great wildlife sightings before the monsoon.

Sikkim
A top month for this northeastern gem. Expect rhododendron blooms, pleasant weather, and open roads to places like Tsomgo Lake, Gangtok, and Pelling.

Darjeeling
Spring flowers and clear skies create the perfect conditions for visiting tea estates, riding the toy train, and enjoying panoramic views of Kanchenjunga.

Ooty, Kodaikanal & Coorg (Tamil Nadu & Karnataka)
April is excellent for southern hill stations. These cooler destinations offer a break from the plains' heat with scenic drives, plantations, and peaceful walks.

Meghalaya (Shillong, Cherrapunji)
Before the heavy rains begin, April offers green landscapes, waterfalls, and comfortable temperatures. Great for treks and exploring living root bridges.

Kerala (Munnar, Thekkady, Wayanad)
Though warmer in the plains, the Western Ghats remain pleasant. Explore tea gardens, wildlife sanctuaries, and cool backroad drives in Munnar and Wayanad.

Madhya Pradesh
Dry heat makes wildlife viewing ideal in reserves like Bandhavgarh, Kanha, and Pench. April offers high chances of spotting tigers and other wildlife.

Rajasthan
Early April is still manageable for exploring Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur. Afternoons get hotter, so plan sightseeing in the morning and evening.

Goa
The heat starts to rise, but it’s still a great time for off-season beach travel. Quieter than peak months, and perfect for budget-friendly stays and relaxed itineraries.

Tamil Nadu (Madurai, Rameswaram, Thanjavur)
Hot but culturally rich. Early mornings and evenings are perfect for temple visits and exploring heritage cities. Hydration and light clothing are key.

Delhi NCR
Pleasant in the first half of April. Great for sightseeing before the summer heat sets in. Explore monuments, gardens, and open markets.

Assam & Kaziranga
The weather is still dry and warm — great for Kaziranga safaris, spotting rhinos, and exploring river islands. Late April can bring pre-monsoon showers.

Varanasi
Spiritual atmosphere thrives, but temperatures start to rise. Ideal for sunrise ghats walks, boat rides, and temple tours, especially early in the day.

Fair – Monitor Conditions

Gujarat
Rising heat, especially in Ahmedabad, Bhuj, and Gir. Wildlife viewing is still good, but midday excursions can be uncomfortable.

Punjab (Amritsar, Chandigarh)
Starts getting hot. Visit during early April for Golden Temple, local food tours, and heritage walks. Avoid midday hours for comfort.

Ladakh
Still off-season. Roads to Pangong and Nubra remain closed. Accessible only by flight to Leh, and most regions are not yet tourist-ready.

Arunachal Pradesh
Lower regions are scenic and cool, but travel in high mountain passes is still tricky. Best suited for offbeat explorers and nature photographers.
